I have many talents; some of them are hard work, commitment, and determination. All of these can be seen when I hit the ice to play ice hockey. I am not just proud of being able to play but also by my coaches telling me that I am a coachable player and can be shown or taught something on the bench and then a moment later can apply it to my game. Because of my commitment to hockey, I must occasionally miss school. Missing school is no easy task because I must go to all your teachers and get the assignments I will miss. I have been told during parent teacher conferences that I am good at getting my assignments in advance and for keeping my grades high in the process. Ice hockey is not an easy game to start off with but being a girl in the Kansas City area is even harder. This is because there are not a lot of quality girl’s teams. Often, I must get up early on Saturday mornings to drive to Des Moines to just practice. Due to this I miss a lot of opportunities to hang out with my school friends. However, this gives me opportunities to make new friends while playing hockey and being on tournaments in different cities. All of this goes to show that I am determined to have good grades in school, be a good friend, and to be the best hockey player I can be.
