Personal Statement
I am passionate about hockey - the greatest game on earth. It takes speed, strength, finesse, athletic ability, mental toughness and a long-term dedication to skill development to be successful at the highest levels of the game. My love for hockey has created the discipline and work ethic needed to succeed and I continue to work diligently at developing all the skills and habits in order to continually make myself a better player. On top of all that, it’s a team sport that creates great friendships and the character needed to go to battle side by side.
I mostly play center, I am both a dynamic scorer and playmaker, leading my team in scoring each of the last 3 seasons (since transitioning from a AAA boys level goalie after U11 – side note – I always played on two teams, one as a goalie and one as a skater during my younger years).
I believe I have a very strong hockey IQ and I match that with always trying to be the hardest worker at practice and training away from my team. Over the last 2 season I don’t think I have missed one team skate as I believe it is important to be reliable and there for your teammates. As I said above, I score goals but I am equally good at passing as I usually end the season with similar goal and assist numbers. I am a strong skater with excellent edges that can shoot the puck in many different ways.
I’m also very proud of my 200 foot game. As a center, I excel at face-offs, block shots, back check diligently and work hard at all defensive aspects in our own zone. I want to be the one that coach calls upon in all situations – whether a goal is needed, penalty kill completed or that face-off won.
As a teammate, I try to be a leader by being positive at all times, trying to rally the troops when we may be down, and providing positive energy on the ice. I try to set an example by always working hard in practice and our team’s warm-ups. My best friends in life are my teammates and I always can’t wait until we are together again.
