Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Maya Griffin.  I am currently a 16U Tier 1 AA hockey player looking forward to playing and developing my skills at the collegiate level. 

For the 2023-2024 season I am playing with the 16U Tier 1 Amherst Lady Knights.  I am a right winger who feels my strengths are an elevated hockey IQ and a relentless work ethic.  I may be small in stature, but I have a big heart that allows me to push myself and play a fearless game.  I pride myself as being a leader both on and off the ice.  I have had the honor of being a captain for my team the last 2 seasons and am looking forward to that role this upcoming season as well.  

In addition to hockey I am also a varsity lacrosse and soccer player.  My teammates and coaches have described me as intelligent, determined, hardworking, coachable and one who plays in the moment. I take pride in pushing and challenging myself to be better each and every time I am in a practice or game situation. 

I am a student at Orchard Park High School. I just completed my freshman year. Academically, I finished the year with a 96.3 GPA.  I love to learn and realize my defining moment in life and value I bring to society will stem from a good education and passion outside of sports.
