Molly Brumfield '16 Recruiting Profile

When I was younger, I liked to try out every sport possible. The very first time I stepped on the ice I knew hockey was going to be the game I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life. I would love to continue to play hockey at the collegiate level.

I would consider myself as an all-around student in school. I have been in my high school band since my freshman year. I am currently first chair out of 22 other clarinetists. I was also in my high school's musical "Hairspray" participating in the pit orchestra. I also have played softball, golf, bowling, and volleyball throughout my high school career (lettering in all of them but volleyball).

Giving back to the community is key. I have over 150 plus hours from volunteering in my community through Columbus Recreation and Parks. I have taught many kids how to ice skate and understand the game of hockey. I have also counseled at a hockey camp for 2 years at Miami Hockey School in Miami, Ohio.

My hockey coaches in the past will say that every year I have gotten a lot better, and that they don't even recognize me anymore given how solid of a player I have become.  I would consider myself a team player. I have more assists than goals because I help create goals more than scoring them. I am a quiet leader. I know the game of hockey very well and help my teammates out. I have a strong work ethic on and off the ice.  If I see someone working hard, I strive to work even harder than they are.

Because I am a team player, I am a well-rounded person in general, making time this summer for not only all my hockey activities but also  working two jobs, with Columbus Recreation and Parks and Texas Roadhouse Restaurant.  In addition, this is my third year as a member of the All-Ohio State Fair Band, which is a select group of Ohio's best youth musicians.  Even though I am involved in multiple activities, hockey is and will always be my passion, and I would love the opportunity to showcase my hockey skills at the college or university level.
