Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Addison Taylert. I am 16 years old and a 2024 recruit looking to fulfill my dreams of playing the sport I love at the collegiate level. I play ice hockey for the 19U Columbus Blue Jackets, Varsity Tennis for my school as well as Varsity Lacrosse for my school. Being a multi-sport athlete has not only helped me grow as an athlete, but also as a person.
Each sport has taught me an important lesson. In hockey we are not just teammates, we are family. Every girl on the ice must work together to succeed. I take my role on the hockey team very seriously as I strive for success. My strengths while playing I would say are my speed, and shot, as well as my hockey IQ. I have also been working hard to improve strength and accuracy in my passes, as well as challenging myself with balance, and puck control to increase my chances at beating the defense and goalie. I work hard year-round on my hockey skills, participating in “Pond Hockey” (3v3), summer showcases with various teams, and summer camps/clinics. I also participate in lifts, and lacrosse training during the springtime, as well as tennis training in the summer.
I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am a very coachable player as I feed for critique and feedback to help me become a better athlete. I strive to be one of the most hard-working players that will help lead my team to success.
In the classroom I work hard and maintain a GPA of 3.7. My grades have been and always will be very important to me and I have worked hard to achieve the balance between my academics and extracurricular activities in order to be successful in both. I also am a member of the National Honor Society, therefore I like volunteering at my local ice rink helping with various youth hockey events, as well as volunteering at local homeless shelters, and food banks.
I look to attend a college where I can push myself both in the classroom and on the ice. I am open to all options and want to find the college that is right for me.
