Personal Statement
I started playing hockey at 6 years of age and my love for the game began the first time I put on skates. Little did I know, the sport would be my heart and soul for many years to come! With hard work and extra practice on and off the ice I have played at the highest competitive level since I was 8. This season 2020/21 I will be playing for the Ottawa Lady Sens in the PWHL. My goal is to continue to develop and improve as a player allowing me to compete at the highest level possible. Competitive sport has taught me the importance of being a team player and having a team first mentality. I feel I bring these qualities to my team each year. I have been raised and coached to understand that it takes hard work, practice and a never quit attitude to reach my goals. Hockey is my passion and I am committed to improving and growing as a player.
I recognize education is laying the foundation for my future and I take my academic success very seriously. I am an Honour Roll student with a current grade point average of 3.7/4.0 (Grade 10) It will continue to be my goal throughout high school to achieve this high academic standard. I would like to be part of a university/college community that combines strong academics with a competitive women's hockey program. At the moment, I am very interested in Health Sciences but have many career interests and am spending time researching to ensure the best fit.
I have a strong work ethic both in the classroom and on the ice. Whether I am playing a game, practicing or doing extra on/off ice training I apply 100% to my development and growth as a player. This effort has rewarded me with special opportunities, most recently being selected to represent Canada in the Women's Inline World Championships scheduled to compete in Cartegena, Columbia, September 2020. I also had a great experience playing in the U15 World Selects Tournament in Bolzano, Italy. I am a team leader and feel I bring a positive attitude and strong work ethic to my teammates.
I hope to pursue my post secondary studies at a university or college that can offer a great education combined with a competitive hockey program that matches my love and passion for the game.
