Coaches,
My name is Nia Shill. I started playing ice hockey at 4 years old for a small puddle league. Then I joined a local boys club team, Capital City Vipers. I played for the Vipers from mites to peewee. By 14u, I joined the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers. The past three seasons I played 14u T1 and 16u AA-Elite for the Jr. Flyers. From those three seasons I have learned how to maintain my physical and mental health while competing against the most competitive teams in the nation. In those three seasons, my team has been able to experience the highest levels of hockey in going to USA Hockey Nationals.
Multi-tasking is one of my crucial talents; sustaining goods grades is as important to me as keeping up with my athletic development. Some of my favorite subjects are math, history, and anything business related. I like to set goals for myself on the ice, in the gym, and in the classroom. I am always willing to stay determined and learn different things to achieve my goals. When I am not at the rink working out and skating, I am doing things at home that will further grow my game (Vizual Edge, nutrition, running, at home workouts, etc). I am eager to learn and develop new things that will better my ability to help the team succeed.
As a player, I am driven, coachable and determined. As a teammate, I am supportive, team first mentality, and selfless. I am 4'10" and 115 lbs, but I use my speed, depth and tracking abilities to make up for my height. My goal is to play women's collegiate hockey, and I am continuing to advance my skills on and off the ice to further my progress.
