Hello, my name is Lauren Singer. I am 18 years old, going into my senior year at Hollidaysburg Area Senior High school. I have many goals in my life. My collegiate goals include achieving success and discovering what field I am truly interested in for my future. As of now, I am interested in going into the medical field because I have experience in that area. I have job shadowed surgeons and received the amazing oppertunity for an inside look on what goes on and how all of the jobs and procedures go about in the medical field. Along with my experience in shadowing, I also have taken numerous biology and anatomy classes throughout my high school career and continue to be intrigued in that particular field. I am a great canidate for your team because I am a hard worker. Once I have my mind set on something, I am determined and motivated to get the job done. Not only am I a hard worker in conditioning and playing on the ice, I am very studious and work extremely hard to earn the top grades I receive in school. Also, I am a very aggressive player and I am not afraid to fight for that puck no matter who I may be up against. I have a lot of hockey experience as well. I started playing as a Peewee with the boys and played PAHL until my last year of Bantam. After discussing my future in hockey with my family, I decieded to not play for the Midget level and travel to Pittsburgh to try out for the girls U16 Steel City Selects. I made the team and have been playing for three years and it has been one of the most unforgetting experiences and oppertunities of my life. Although my family lives two hours away from Pittsburgh, I still was able to manage my studies and make every practice during the school year. I have always taken hockey seriously and dedicate myself to my team. In my most recent past year, I was named captain of the U19 Steel City Selects. Along with playing girls U19 league, I have also been playing for my high schools varsity team for several years. Playing in this league with the boys is actually a huge benefit to me because it forces me to be aggressive and to not be timid when I play. I have become a better hockey player because of my experience with players twice my size.
