Personal Statement

My name is Sydnie Crockett. I am a senior at Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, Co. I am an honor roll student. I am currently billeting in Littleton to play for the Team Colorado Tier 1 program. I have a 3.6-4.0 GPA. I am determined to keep excellent grades throughout all of high school, as well as post high school.

My goal is to play college hockey and achieve a college education. I have been told that I am very coachable and that I have good vision of the ice. I give 100% on and off the ice. I always have a positive attitude during practices and games. Every practice and game I work to improve my skills and encourage my teammates. I want to be a role model for younger girls who want to go far in the sport. I was asked to come in and talk to to the U12 Lady Roughriders before playoffs by the head coach to help build there confidence . Also, I have done many “Learn to Skate” and have helped many girls fall in love with the sport. Playing on a team that wasn’t so close to home allowed me to realize that time management is very important in academics and hockey. Both of my parents never complain about driving me 3 hours round trip to practice every other night and games/practice every weekend. I have learned that sometimes you have to go out of your comfort zone to do the things you love. I have been taught that commitment and hard work are the basis to success.

During the 2016-17 season I was awarded Assistant Captain and voted MVP of the U14AA Lady Roughriders. I was coached by an outstanding coach who helped me excel in the game on and off the ice. I started training a lot more on my own at home, either by cardio, home weights along with shooting and puck handling in our garage.

During the 2017-18 season I was awarded Captain of the U16AA Lady Roughriders. During this past season my efforts at home helped me with my confidence to be able to find the back of the net and control the puck. This training also allowed me to be one of the top scoring leaders on the team along with an equal amount of assists. Being captain I learned that it was important to help others so we as a team could grow and excel in the game. During the spring I was selected to play on the Colorado Thunderbirds girls AAA spring league to play in Minneapolis Minnesota at the Stars and Stripes tournament.

During the 2018-19 season I was awarded Assistant Captain of the U19AA Lady Roughriders. During the season my team participated at a Chicago tournament, where we earned first place and the CAN/AM tournament in Madison, WI, where we earned second place. I also got the chance to participate at the High School Nationals for High School in Ohio for Monarch Girls High School. We earned third place.

It is my goal, that my hard work in school and hockey will help me earn scholarships and help my parents pay for college. My parents continue to help me achieve my goal and encourage me to succeed in the game of hockey and my future education.

I am determined to continue to work hard both in school and in the game of hockey. I am willing to travel to achieve my dreams of playing hockey at the highest possible level and attaining my educational goals. I am open to all levels of college hockey.
