Personal Statement
I began playing lacrosse seven years ago (3rd grade) for Glastonbury Lacrosse Club, my town’s lacrosse program. I was primarily a goalie, but I enjoyed playing in the field as well. I eventually switched to playing in the field only. I play all three positions on the field, and because of my prior experience as a goalie I know where to be on defense at all times, and what shots and fakes are most effective when attacking the goal.
Since fifth grade, I have played for club lacrosse organizations within Connecticut in addition to my town lacrosse team. For the past three years I have been playing for the Nor’easter lacrosse club out of Hamden, CT. During those 3 years on Nor’easter I have been on the Blue team, which is their competitive level team, and was invited to play on their middle school Select team in both 7th and 8th grade. Along with lacrosse, I have played travel basketball for my town for four years, recently made my high school basketball team, and made my high school field hockey team this fall after teaching myself how to play over quarantine. In addition to sports, I have made the High Honor Roll for the first and second quarter of my freshman year.
I had shoulder surgery on December 16, 2019 on my left (dominant) shoulder, which gave me time to work a lot on my non-dominant hand, and because of that I have become very confident and comfortable with both my left and right hands. My background as a goalie has given me the physical toughness needed, and the high standard I'm not only held to by my coaches, but also by myself has allowed me to build my mental toughness as well. I also have a winning mentality and am self driven to accomplish my goals.
In the future, I want to be part of a program that will push me to become not only an elite lacrosse player, but I also want to attend a university that will push me academically. I want to be a part of a competitive lacrosse program that has a good family environment who is willing to push each other to become better lacrosse players and people. I know that I hold myself to a very high standard and I want to be a part of a program where my teammates and coaches do as well. I am a very versatile player and am able to play any position that may be needed. I hope to become the leader your program may need as well as learn everyday from amazing players and coaches.
