Hey Coaches!
I'm Mallory Shekell, a 2024 midfielder, from Evansville, Indiana. Lacrosse has been a huge part of my family. My older sister played for 8 years, so I have grown up watching the sport. After seven years of competitive gymnastics, I decided to start playing lacrosse. Gymnastics had a huge impact on my life; it taught me time management skills along with the need for self-motivation.
When I was younger, I wanted to go to medical school and become either a vascular surgeon or surgical dermatologist. I was accepted into the Medical Professions Academy at my high school and spent my freshman year prepping for pre-med. Although I really enjoyed learning about the human body system, my freshman U.S. History class made me realize that I was more interested in debating topics than performing surgeries. Because of that history class, I have decided to study political science.
When I'm not at lacrosse practice or school, I enjoy watching movies, reading all sorts of books, looking at outrageously expensive houses on Zillow, studying film with my younger sister, and watching college lacrosse games. This year I hope to get more involved in my community by volunteering for local organizations and joining clubs at my school. On the field, I'm hoping to continue improving my stick skills and become a better team leader.
Thank you!
