Personal Statement
I am driven when I have a goal and will work hard to accomplish that goal.
I grew up playing lacrosse in the Washington, D.C. area, but my family moved to Iowa in 2014 when I was in 6thgrade. After a year of looking for a new team, I found the West Des Moines Tigers (and the Iowa Mavericks travel team) to play with and was very excited to be able to continue playing lacrosse. I’ve played with them since the spring of my 6thgrade year (the Mavericks came later). I travel 2 hours to practice and even farther for most games as I live in Iowa City and the teams’ practice and play in Des Moines, Omaha, and all over the Midwest, but the sacrifice is worth the travel - I am so happy to be able to play.
I don’t feel that I have reached my full potential as a lacrosse player. I don't get to practice with the team as often as I would like, given the travel demands. Collegiate lacrosse offers the opportunity to practice regularly, focus intensely on skill development, and build ties with teammates that can only come with those daily experiences.
As a senior, I hope to be a leader for my teammates and play hard every game.
