Personal Statement
Hi coaches! My name is Cecilia Bliss. I grew up in Maine, but now live in Florida and attend IMG Academy (lacrosse). Prior to playing lacrosse, I trained 20 hours a week as a competitive gymnast. Six years in high level competitive gymnastics not only taught me how to succeed as an individual competitor, but also how my performance adds to the success of a team. During my time in the sport, I learned about myself mentally and physically and mastered how to be a good listener and focused leader. Gymnastics set me up for success in many different aspects of life, including my journey into the new sport of lacrosse. In seventh grade, I decided to transition out of gymnastics, but wanted another sport in which to immerse myself. Enter lacrosse. My first time picking up a lacrosse stick was the seventh grade season (2019). As soon as I played in the first game, my love for the sport was instant. I joined a club in Maine (Maineiax), which became like a second family. I made the Varsity girls lacrosse team at Waynflete high school (Maine) as a freshman and was a starter. That same year, our team won the Class C State Championships. This was the greatest accomplishment of my lacrosse career, to date. Despite being a small underdog team and previously losing to our opponent, we pushed through and came out on top. That day strengthened the love I already had for lacrosse and playing on a strong team. I finished out the school year and lacrosse season at Waynflete (Maine), and made the decision to attend a school that would not only push me academically, but also allow me to train and play/compete lacrosse year round. Therefore, I decided to continue my academic and athletic career at IMG Academy. Playing lacrosse in college is my main goal. I will be a positive addition to any team because I'm hard working, motivated, self disciplined, and have the desire to succeed alongside my teammates.
