(Written last year)
I’ve been playing lacrosse since I was ten, playing in the local league with my friends from my neighborhood. At eleven I tried out for the club team Garden State Elite, and have been playing for with them for the past five years. I have been given opportunities to learn from many amazing coaches throughout those years. They taught me the importance of playing smart, being able to make decisions on the field, and communication. They have helped me become a fast-thinking leader on the defensive side of the field. I know there's still so much for me to learn.
During the school day, I take four AP classes and one honors: AP studio art, AP English, AP US History, AP biology, and honors Spanish. My favorite class right now is AP Studio, I focus on photography, which ties into my position as an editor of our school fashion magazine, Prism. I am also a co-founder of Peddie’s Mental Wellness Club, our goal being to promote mental health awareness and provide opportunities to destress to my school community. After school and the gym, I practice piano, which I have been learning since first grade. I am also a leader of a volunteer program called Education for Success, in which a group of my peers and I tutor students at the local elementary and middle schools. At the end of the day, if it’s still light out, I’ll spend some time at my bounce back or play spike ball with my friends.
I also, very recently, was nominated and received the position of Atheltic Student Ambassador for Peddie. Meaning I will work closely with the athletic department to represent the voice of the student body and help manage athletic events. It is a position of leadership that will help me exercise my interpersonal skills while learning the behind the scenes of the Peddie Athletic Department.
I recently scored 5 on all four of my AP exams. I am signed up for a few more AP classes my coming senior year. I’m taking the SAT next month, in late August.
