Personal Statement
After my sophomore year in lacrosse at Dublin Scioto High School in Dublin, Ohio, I was honored to receive 1st Team All Conference and Honorable Mention All Region awards. Our team worked hard to continue to build again this year as a team which was the best part to see us coming together and continue to drive our program to the next higher level by getting to the first time to the 3rd round of the end of the year tournament which was the first time in school history. Although defense is my passion and primary position, I also had a chance to contribute to our high school team by playing midfield at times during both seasons to help gain possession on the draw and provide lift to our offense when needed.
Beyond playing in school and club, in August 2019 in Peterborough, Ontario, I am playing for the U19 Mexico National Team at the World Cup Lacrosse Tournament. Also, my high school volleyball coach recommended a Leadership Training Program at my school which I participated in and am now using those skills on all of my teams (volleyball, basketball, lacrosse). This will be a continued focus for the remainder of my high school years and beyond.
I have learned thru sports to set goals, to prioritize my time, and most importantly the value my education has to achieve my goals and dreams. For me, working hard on the field carries thru to working hard in the classroom. It seems that the busier I am the more effective I am at handling and excelling in both my academic and athletic commitments.
One of my aspirations is to explore how my athletic experiences and accomplishments would allow me to pursue a college degree. Right now I am interested in potentially studying Math, Early Education, Animal Therapy or Coaching. For a career I would like to go into a field where I can help others overcome challenges and learn new skills. Doing some volunteering with kids makes me realize how rewarding it is to teach and help others.
