The college that offers me will get a mentally tough, blue-collar, physical, smart, fast lax player. I am a disciple of Feffie Barnhill's teaching/coaching and her fast break style of attacking (the Feffie Fast Break). Fav Feffie quote: "Cars have many gears but a midfielder only has 1 of them ... fast all of the time."
SPEED: I clocked a 10 yard sprint of 1.5 seconds at Upper Arlington High School in April 2022. Strength/conditioning coach told me it was the fastest on the team that day.
BACKGROUND: I was born in downtown Baltimore and raised in the fertile crescent of lacrosse culture, coaching, and crabs (Maryland). I have also spent significant time in Northwestern Ohio (Toledo). I moved to eastern Maryland near the U. Of Delaware after learning lacrosse in Baltimore. I have recently moved from the east coast to Columbus, OH in the summer 2021 and love playing lax in the midwest full-time. I play many sports and dance. Dancing has given me loose hips for faking opponents, fleet feet for dodging and driving, and quick decision making skills. I have played year round lacrosse since the age of 8. I was breaking down film/tape of what college lax players are trying to do offensively and defensively with my dad in the offseason by the age of 10. I am a versatile midfielder and can play both attack and defense. I can catch in tight windows around the crease even if the pass is hard to catch. I am comfortable with both hands but always working on my off-hand. Left handed stick work and endurance are 2 things I have worked hard on this past year. I stay fit and free of injury with good nutrition, stretching, lots of outdoor sports and rest.
EXPERIENCE: I play lax year round. I was a starter on my high school lax varsity team in Delaware as an 8th grader. I made 96 goals in my first 15 high school varsity games ... I was told they are Delaware state records for a first year player. My high school varsity team went 15-0 and made it to the state playoffs. I play against high school teams in winter lax leagues. Throughout my club experience, I have played against the best lax club teams in the states of Maryland (Heros Green, M&D Black, YJ, Skywalkers Blue, LBC, Redshirts, Integrity, Coppermine Black), NJ (Steps, Aim), PA, NY, VA, DC and DE. I have played competitively against the best NGLL has to offer. One of my club teams almost beat the eventual NGLL 2025 champion, which came out of the Mid-Atlantic region. The agony of defeat, the thrill of victory, and the passing of knowledge -- it is why I love lacrosse and want to grow the game through coaching. I would love to grow the girl's lax rec program in my county while I am in high school and even coach after college.
COACHABLE: Lombardi said "Winning isn't everything. It's the only thing." I am coachable and understand the team goal. Personally, I just want to win. I received coaching from women's lax coaching legend Feffie Barnhill for Greene Turtle Lax in DE. I am always learning from someone to become better every day.
WINNING ATTITUDE: I have won top tier events in Lax Clash, Summer Classic, Next Generation, The Grind, Northstar Midwest 32 Select (Chicago), National Cup. I helped win a championship at Lax Clash, while down 2 players. I was selected to represent the state of Maryland for the WPLL middle school futures championship summit in 2020. I joined a lax club in 2019/2020 that had never won a single game in any tournament in over a year. I wanted to build something from scratch and a winning culture, and we became immediately competitive. Doing that helped me understand the ingredients to build a winning culture, develop patience and sparked a fuse to give it everything I have on the field. For me, it all starts with a good attitude and the pursuit of perfection. Coach Lombardi said "Perfection is unattainable but through the pursuit of perfection, one can catch (achieve) excellence." I 100% believe that.
OFFSEASON TRAINING: I attend as many lax camps as I can. I am always at the Cathy Reese U. of Maryland camp in the summer. Learning, training, and playing lax is fun, it does not feel like work. I use the SNYPR app to count my reps during wallball training.
DEFENSIVE: The best offense starts with a great defense. I pride myself in my defensive skills. They have improved considerably over the past year. I am very effective in crashing and stick placement to alter penalty shots. I am good at it. Recognition of where the offense is along the 8 and knowing when and where to slide to help my defense is where I made huge strides in 2021. I am active defensively as a mid-fielder.
COMPETITION: I play year round at the club level. I play winter lax against Delaware and Maryland HS teams in 2 separate leagues. I have played on a highly ranked (national) lax team in Maryland as well as local ones in Delaware that struggled to win before I arrived. I have earned roster spots on some of the biggest club names in the country like NEMS and Skywalkers out of Baltimore. I have played in older age group tournaments against girls 2 and even 3 years older and still manage to score on those goalies with tall defenders in my face.
STUDY: I like to watch goalies before the game and figure out their tendencies and weaknesses. I have been breaking down lax game film with my dad for years. I rewatch my HS games to see what/how I could have done better.
INTANGIBLES & CHARACTER: My greatest intangible quality is my ability to elevate the play of my teammates around me. My competitive side makes my teammates ball out. I practice hard because that is the way I want to play in games, and it ends up rubbing off on my teammates. It happens everywhere I go. I communicate verbally on defense and tell girls when I need to switch or cover someone else. I lead by example on offense. I try to learn from as many coaches as I can, watch my older HS teammates, take in advice on how to improve my game, and watch HS game film. I want to be a lax head coach one day. Building a losing program into a winner is a fun dynamic to work toward and achieve. Building upon successes, and learning from my failures/mistakes are part of my character.
PHILOSOPHY: Lacrosse is about outworking your opponent as an individual and as a team. My style is to bring my blue collar attitude to the field.
OTHER: I want to study medicine and law. I am interested in college programs with pre-med and pre-law. I like large universities with a diverse array of course offerings and majors. The college that signs me will get someone who will rip it up at the next level. I have quite a bunch still to learn. I am light on my feet, but I am no cupcake who shies away from defender contact. I was taught to play physical starting from an early age. I am a late bloomer and still growing. My plan is to dominate high school competition over the next few years, train my body with weights and prepare my mind for the college game while in high school. In the 2020/2021 off-season I am working on my midfielder endurance.
OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM: I help out with my younger sister's rec lax team. My sister is a phenomenal goalie by the way. I hope to be teaching rec lax next season to the next generation in my county. I volunteer at AI Dupont Children's Hospital in Delaware with their high school prom for students/patients with cancer.
When I am not dodgin', stylin' and profilin', with my sports teams, I am just a quiet kid who enjoys reading books and learning.
