Personal Statement
In the first lacrosse game ever Indiana Girl’s Lacrosse history, I was put out on the field as a middie and told to take the draw. Unsure of what a draw was but sure of my speed, I had to learn rather quickly. Five years later, when the coach starts me, I am prepared to take the draw, make a quick transition, and help my team score.
I value both aspects of being a student-athlete. I am looking for a college that will challenge me academically as well as a college that fits me athletically. For my entire life I have been a multi-sport athlete, but my favorite sport is lacrosse. I love the aspect of the team, winning and losing together, completing grueling practices, and rejoicing when the hard work pays off. I began playing on a young team, but this experience has taught me a lot. I have grown into a leader, teaching young players how the game works, on the field during the games or when I help with the younger girls’ practices. I have learned to play both offense and defense, that assisting is as important as scoring, and one has to hustle to support their team throughout the game. When I am not playing lacrosse, I am advancing my skills as a writer and jazz singer. In tenth grade, I joined the Pittsburgh True Lax travel team so I could foster my lacrosse skills, such as perfecting the draws, reading my teammates, and tenacious shooting. I have learned a tremendous amount and know that I have the skills, speed, and mentality to make a positive impact on your team!
