Personal Statement
A few years ago, I had a friend who played goalie for Timpview’s women's team, and she convinced me to join, which turned out to be the best decision I've made. I absolutely am completely in love with playing Lacrosse, and hope to make it a big part of my life in the next chapter! I am one of the only players on my team that is a starter every time and plays the full game. I am very competitive, and I play aggressively. I try to be the best and play my best, so I put in 100% every day during practice, as well as work out and play wall ball nearly every day. Sophomore year, I came in and improved, but ended up plateauing being on JV. Once I joined varsity, it was like night and day. I have noticed about myself that I improve very rapidly, so once something just ‘clicks’ with me, I play at such a higher skill level than I was before. About mid-way through my last season, I really found that switch, and ended up earning myself defensive MVP.
One of the biggest influencing factor for me as an athlete are my coaches. They truly believed in me and our team, and we played better because of it. I enjoy having this social aspect of lacrosse, and I am very eager to find supporting coaching staff and team I can work with and build off of! One obstacle that I've had to work through, however, is playing confidently, especially against those who are better than I am. Being pushed and having a new challenges is what truly has helped me get past that, as I have to step out of my comfort zone and be more aggressive on the field. I've learned that when I truly push myself, I get more comfortable with my abilities as an athlete. I am so pumped that there's a possibility I could continue my obsession, and I'm excited to see where it takes me!
