My name is Meghan Wommack and I am 14 years old and just finished my freshman year in high school. I have always had a passion for biology and I hope one day to go into medicine or veterinary medicine.
I love being active. I have been playing lacrosse since third grade and have played on travel lacrosse teams for three years. In addition to lacrosse, I have also played field hockey and house and travel basketball and I enjoy running. I have always loved the game of lacrosse. It is a great stress reliever for me and is fun. I am always excited to play and enjoy learning more about the sport.
I am currently a defender for the 2019-2020 Virginia United travel team. Last fall, I sustained a stress fracture which kept me out for the fall club season and spring high school season. I am very excited to be back in the game this summer and playing for Virginia United. I have also played for Supernova Select and Cardinal Lacrosse. I have focused on playing defense since middle school, but prior to that played both midfield and attack.
I enjoy playing defense and have a talent for it. I have good stick skills and can use both right and left hand to catch and throw I take charge on the field and am comfortable being a leader. I am well educated about the position and don't get intimidated easily.
I have been dreaming about playing college lacrosse since I first began the sport. I've been to several college camps and have heard about how amazing playing in college can be. I want to play lacrosse as long as I can and believe it will make me a better student because it will help me stay balanced.
While I love being an athlete, I have other things that are important to me. I have been in my school choir since elementary school and have participated in district chorus for three years. I also played piano and cello. I am a dedicated student and do well in my honors classes. I am also very involved at my church and volunteer regularly in my community and participate in a mission trip each year.
As a sixth grader, I was the only student to receive the prestigious Daughters of the American Revolution Citizenship Award. I was selected for this award by the faculty because over several months, I worked to integrate special needs students into activities with the other students at recess.
I would love nothing more than to continue playing this sport that I love in college while pursuing my academic goals and dreams of going into medicine.
