I have been on various sports teams for ten years. I know the importance of being a team player and I know the meaning of hard work and determination. I never want to let my team down. Living near the beautiful Pacific Ocean and absolutely loving water sports, I decided to try-out for the crew team freshman year of high school. Summertime novice rowing camps had come and gone, I missed those but I still had a few days to learn as much as I could before try-outs. Making the team was the last easy thing I've done regarding rowing. I have discovered many strengths since my novice year of rowing. Most of those strengths are mental. I found that I could push through painful situations such as fatigue, muscle pain, blisters, and challenging weather conditions. I have also learned how to compensate for being 5'5" with my reach and my rhythm. I am discreet but not in the boat; that's where I give all my strength and energy.
I have had some great accomplishments these past three years. I was on the lightweight8+ team that won first place at State two years in a row, in turn qualifying us for nationals where we placed twelfth in 2015 and sixth in 2016. I am excited about the possibilities ahead in my senior year, as I believe my team continues to get better and stronger.
I am currently looking for a college that will be a good fit for me academically as well as athletically. I believe I have the talent to compete for a college team, and I know I have the work ethic, the passion and the character to make a profound impact on that team.
