I was first introduced to crew in the second half of my junior year. One of my best friends had been rowing for a few seasons at that point, and was persistently encouraging me to check it out. I ended up completing a 2 week trial period for CCNW (Capital Crew Novice Women)'s spring season, and I completely fell in love with the sport.
I had previously been Middle Blocker for my school's volleyball team, and this year I had to give up what was a previously cherished sport in order to row for Capital Crew's Varsity Women Squad, a choice that was well-made with no regrets. This rigorous, demanding, and equally fulfilling sport has taught me so much. It has made me a more responsible, well-rounded individual, increasingly more physically and mentally fit, and has, in a few short words, completely changed my life for the better. For these reasons I am eagerly looking for opportunities to row in college, and am looking for programs that will suit me both athletically and academically. I do not have the years of experience many other athletes possess, but I do have every bit of grit, reliability, and enthusiasm necessary to continue to excel exponentially.
As a result of my limited experience as a rower, my stats are not as impressive as I would like them to be. However, I continue to work and improve every day, and I believe that my past progress is a small window into what I can achieve in a small amount of time.
My 2k stats:
Date: 3/4/19 3/11/19 4/9/19
Overall Time: 8:14.3 8:07.1 7:50.9
Average Split: 2:03.5 2:01.7 1:57.7
