Hey, I'm Emma. I'm currently a junior at International High School in San Francisco, California, a high school which offers a challenging bilingual, International Baccalaureate program. I began rowing late compared to most of my teammates, starting as a sophomore in 2018, which means I've only been on the women's varsity team for a few weeks. Despite my late start, my height, and my weight, I believe I can bring a lot to a team: perseverance, ambition, and a strong team spirit. This is in part due to that, in some ways, I have been disadvantaged my entire life. I am dyslexic and struggled a lot with reading and writing when I was younger, yet I am currently taking higher level English literature and French literature in the IB; and I am both shorter and lighter than everyone else on my team, yet I can still hold my own on both the ergs and on the water. In short, I think I have a lot to offer, so I'd like to ask you for a chance to show that.
