Hi! My name is Skylar Marciano and I am a lightweight rower who has made the decision to row in college. I was first introduced to rowing in 2018 during my sophomore year of high school by my mom who suggested that I try something new. When looking for things to try out, I came across rowing. It was one of those moments in my life where I had an instant feeling this would become a newfound passion of mine. I had no idea it would escalate from there. My first season concluded, I was obsessed and there was no turning back.
For me, I find a sense of comfort when out on the water and treat it as an outlet where I am connected with not only myself, but with a positive and energetic community of rowers who and the lifestyle it has provided me.
Besides my passion for being out on the water, I enjoy the team effort and support that is shared by being part of a close knit team and the rowing community. It has truly helped with my personal growth and who I am today.
One thing about myself is that I'm extremely self-motivated, hard-working, and determined. Whenever I set a goal for myself, I commit to it 110% and always follow through. I strive to put forth my best effort in everything I do throughout life.
When it comes to racing, I know that it's not just me pushing the boat but the efforts of others on the team involved. I'm very supportive of my team and I'm always eager to motivate and encourage them.
I am currently a member of the Orlando Area Rowing Society in central FL. I was previously apart of the Princeton National Rowing Association in NJ. I went through two seasons of novice, one season of JV Varsity, and now I'm currently on the Varsity team. Ever since my first regatta, I looked forward to continuing to row in college. I'm very eager to immerse myself into the life of collegiate rowing and can't wait to set an endless amount of goals.
What makes me different from other recruits I feel, is my character. What you see is what you get and there are no hidden surprises, excuses, or drama. I'm in it for the long haul and will balance my academics and rowing seamlessly as I've done over the past two years while attending a college preparatory high school and being associated with one of the most prestigious rowing communities in the Northeast and South.
