I love everything about rowing. I love seeing my teammates and coaches, I love being on the water, and I especially love regattas and racing with my team and others who share the same love for this sport. The positive energy we all bring and the support we give to each other is something that I am always grateful for, and I love that we are able to create such a wonderful environment.
Rowing challenges me every day and pushes me to my limit, both physically and mentally, but I grow from that and push through. I have found myself reaching goals I never would have thought I could do freshman year because of rowing. Working hard for something you don’t care for is called stress. Working hard for something you love is called passion. I am passionate about rowing. That passion drives me to be a better version of myself through hard work in the gym, on the ergs, and in the boat. That mindset carries over well beyond rowing, from how I approach my academics, all the way to my daily life outside of school and sports. Rowing has taught me how to communicate effectively, connect with others, and be able to share accomplishments and defeats as a team and grow from those experiences.
Academically, I look forward to the different routine that as a collegiate athlete I will experience. I am always trying to find ways to improve on being responsible, and college teaches great life lessons on how to be responsible in all aspects of life. I want to hold myself accountable to be a caring teammate and a dedicated student. I will take every opportunity to learn, grow and excel as a student as well as a rower. I have wanted to be a doctor since I was a little kid. So for me, when I think about going off to college, I see it as one more stepping stone to my personal career goal. I also see it as a time in my life where I will get to meet people from all walks of life and build lifelong friendships. It is equally exciting as it is scary. I look forward to extending my circle of influence as a caring and responsible person with all the people I meet as I build my own personal brand.
Thank you for your time and consideration
