Personal Statement
My name Hannah Richardson am a determine and independent person. I hold myself to a high standard in both rowing and in academics. I understand the causation between effort and results both on and off the water and like to push myself to new levels. Growing up in a small rural community in NSW Australia has given a strong sense of spirt and independence as I attend a boarding school. I would love the opportunity to row in the States as it would provide me with a new experience and challenge. I have been rowing for 5 seasons now and am excited for some change and an opportunity to compete at a new level.
I began rowing in high school after I saw my brother row and fall in love with the sport. For me, rowing was unlike anything else and required new levels of determination. It favoured people who were tall, strong which were elements that I felt insecure about. It allowed me to love my body and push through the hard sessions. Winning Head of the River for the first time for my school was the most amazing feeling. Turning around and doing it again the next season was unreal and made me reflect on how hard we had worked. Being a small rural squad and beating much larger Sydney schools was something I will never forget.
