I was introduced to rowing in late 2016 when I was scouted though the SASI Talent Search Program; where my surpassing strength test results identified me as a suitable candidate. This opportunity occurred at the same time I was awarded a scholarship to attend, USC, providing me the perfect opportunity to grow both academically and athletically. Whilst I am reasonably new to rowing, I have grown to love the sport, embracing the challenges, comradery and team ethics it presents; all while continually excelling rapidly and eventually winning the Rowing SA Champion Senior Athlete award in my first season. Through this I have learned how to push myself to reveal my full potential both in competition and the classroom.
In early 2017, I unfortunately tore my ACL and meniscus whilst competing in a state heptathlon competition for athletics. The surgery required meant I was absent from school for 3 weeks, forcing me to learn to prioritise my time to catch up whilst balancing my rehab training program. I was fortunate enough to be part amazing programs, where I was still able to achieve A+ scores after 3 consecutive weeks off school, highlighting my commitment and determination to succeed at anything I put my mind to.
