Briggs Negron '20 Recruiting Profile

I was introduced to rowing in middle school when my mother brought myself and my sister to watch the Head of the Charles, after which I felt determined to row in high school.  I had two interests while seeking out high schools; 1) Rowing and 2) A school year abroad program for my junior year.  The Winsor school provided me a strong rowing team coupled with the ability to study my junior year in Zaragoza, Spain.

As a team Captain, I strive to emphasize a positive attitude in the boathouse hand in hand with the idea that pushing yourself to the limit can coexist with a healthy and friendly boathouse environment. I also feel another of my assets is the fact that I have had the opportunity to row with multiple clubs; 1) The Winsor School, 2) Riverside Club, 3) Natacion Helios in Zaragoza, Spain, which enabled me to be exposed to a lot of different techniques, rowing styles and allowed me to be very versatile.

In regards to academics, I hold a 3.66 GPA and have prided myself in my willingness to push myself academically, especially during my junior year where the majority of my classes were conducted in Spanish. Furthermore, I love to be adventurous and take risks with new and unfamiliar classes or projects.
