Personal Statement
I love the thrill of racing against time, the excitement of competition and constantly finding balance between mind and body. I am happier and more confident because I row. This sport has taught me self discipline, time management, the value of hard work, and that you cannot grow without stepping out of your comfort zone. Rowing has also taught me patience, with myself and with other teammates because we are all at different skill levels.
Being an athlete brings with it daily disciplines in nutrition, sleep and being able to bring your best self to practice for your team. I know that I would make a great addition to a team because I am currently flexible and trained to be strong in any position. I feel I am getting excellent training and experience at my boat club, where I keep developing year round. I’ve learned to challenge myself and set goals that have made me the athlete I am today. I am grateful to still have time in high school rowing to enjoy and prepare, in order to bring my best skills to a college team.
