Although I am relatively new to rowing, and have faced certain struggles especially regarding the pandemic, I have found that they have been all for the better. Joining this team and seeing the benefit of being on a team has been such a saving grace for me over this past year. And there is still so much to gain from it. Putting athletics aside, I have not only been able to meet some amazing people, but have also gotten to fall in love with a sport I had not even heard of til 2020. The boost in motivation, the strive for competition, I get why people do this for the rest of their lives. And I want to be one of those people. I want to take rowing into account with the next phase of my life.
College is something that I used to dread and want anything but to get it over with. But I see that there is something familiar that I can carry with me into this next step. I look forward to learning more about it all. About rowing, about my future career, about my future in general. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself and give everything to it. And while I see other applicants that have equal if not comparable scores and ranks compared to mine, I know that I bring something entirely different. I am looking for a family. For people who want to be together and to be better together. I want to be a part of an organization that sees the potential in me and helps me grow to be that person. I realize this is all just a complicated competition of sorts, but I know what I bring to the table and what I want out of this. There is no halting progress and that is what I have to give.
