Personal Statement
Sports have always been apart of my life. Early on, I played soccer and swam year round. Then in high school, I found what being passionate about a sport really meant. Through the early mornings, late evenings, cold air, and even colder water I immediately felt connected to rowing.
I received the Coach’s Award for my dedication, leadership, and optimism in my first season. I have learned a lot about myself; I am very good at understanding complex strategies and I enjoy working with teammates to find solutions to problems. I am honest and straight forward and I can carefully analyze decisions that are made. This is evident in my gift for math and science and I enjoy applying the same values within those subject to rowing. In addition, this past season, I was awarded the Most Improved Rower Award for my coachability and aspirations for self-improvement.
My ideal college would allow me to pursue my degree in computer science and applied mathematics while continuing to row. I hold high expectations for myself and rowing gives me the discipline that I need to achieve this goal.
