Personal Statement
My collegiate goal is to graduate from a university that is as committed to my excelling in academics, as they are to excelling in their rowing program. I have a full understanding of the importance of balancing my academic goals, while pursuing my passion for rowing and achieving my own personal objectives. I am a servant-leader at my school, in the boathouse and in the community. I volunteer for the American Heart Association, Angel’s Foster Care and serve every week in my church nursery. I am a delegate of the OKC Youth Leadership Council, where our organization meets monthly to explore service opportunities across the community.
My dedication and love for sports is evidenced in my competitive spirit, that goes back to my first year in youth triathlons, when I qualified for the National IronKids Championship. I lettered in Varsity Cross-Country and Soccer my Freshman year, while also competing on the OKC Riversports Rowing team. As a 4-year coxswain, I have been afforded great experiences on how to be a leader in the boathouse and on the water. My coach and teammates will attest to my dedication in the training room and my commitment to improving my coxswain skills. Every summer, I balance between working a part-time job, attending a coxswain summer camp and serving as a coxswain for the OKC Corporate rowing program. I am excited about the opportunity to be a teammate for an outstanding rowing program and to further develop my skills as a coxswain at the collegiate level.
