2020 SpotlightPersonal Statement
I have a passion for rowing and know I will make a significant contribution at the college level. I joined the Upper Saint Clair High School team while in eight grade and immediately knew I had the potential for a high level of success. My results continue to improve season over season. I have been taught the important lessons of teamwork and trust, and have formed new relationships with people I would have not known if not for rowing. Because of the love I have formed for this sport, I aspire to continue my rowing career into college to grow and learn with new and old teammates.
I've participated in multiple US Rowing events with highlights including Head of the Ohio 1st (2X) and 2nd (4X) place finishes and at Speakmon 3rd (2X).
I am being coached by a former Olympian, Florin Curuea. Florin is the head coach for the Upper Saint Clair High School team and also runs the Pittsburgh Rowing Club. In addition to our head coach, we have a very strong assistant coaching staff who have rowed at the college level and beyond.
Currently a Junior, I attend Upper Saint Clair High School which is known for academic excellence and is ranked #14 within the state of Pennsylvania and #557 in Nationally by US News & World Report 2022. I maintain a 3.931 GPA (4.329 weighted) within a challenging AP, honors and IB curriculum.
