Romy Steen '26 Recruiting Profile

Although I have been rowing since the eighth grade, I have found I never get bored and am always working and learning something new. Something I find beautiful about the sport, is it is nearly impossible to achieve the perfect stroke. It challenges me, alike to the erg, but the challenge of rowing and the strive to improve certainly keeps me coming back. I truly couldn’t imagine a life without rowing, the first way I was hooked was the team. Although I was never one for team projects, rowing with a team has without a doubt been the best experience of my life. It is so cool how much not only your coaches, but your own teammates and friends have to teach you. Being taught to work hard, and to embrace the team have been the greatest two lessons of my life. Although the idea of college can scare me, being able to work with new people and learn a million new lessons excites me so much more.
