Hi, my name is Janella Camp and I’d like to tell you a bit about myself.
I am a four year varsity rower with a wide range of rowing port, starboard, sculling, stroke, & bow in small boats. My freshman year I showed great potential and often raced in v4+’s and v8’s in early fall regattas. In spring, I often stroked novice 4+’s or jv 4x’s which includes a quad at Midwest Scholastics. Sophomore year of fall I stroked my junior quad to a 2nd place finish at the Hoover Columbus Fall classic with a time of 22:23.04. That same year, I stroked our junior quad to a 2nd place finish at Midwest Scholastics with the following time of 6:26.07. This pass junior year my women’s quad travelled to the Head of the Charles to participate in the worlds biggest 5k finishing with a time of 20:18.03. In addition, I also stroked a lightweight 4x in SRAA’s that following spring with a time of 6:12.77.
This pass summer I had the opportunity to train with the head coach of Michigan State as well as being a leading example during our own learn to row camp. As a senior, I hope to expand my experience in both the coxing and rowing position. Before rowing I danced for 9 years at two studios and like to think it gave me great discipline and muscle control. I think as a rower or coxswain I’d make a great addition to any collegiate rowing team.
