Personal Statement
My name is Sharon A. Lopez, from Huntsville, AL. I am comfortable playing anywhere across the back line, however I am currently playing as a center back. I have been a part of the Huntsville High School Soccer Program for 3 years and started for the Junior Varsity team for the past two years; in addition to practicing with the Varsity team. I play club soccer for the Madison Blaze 05 Girls and we play in the Division 1 State League. My past two club seasons I played up for the NASA Strikers 04 College Showcase team. My goal in college is to obtain my undergraduate in the cyber-field, obtain my master's degree in law and become a lawyer. This being said, I am looking for an institution that will challenge me to compete at the highest possible level both in the classroom and on the field where I am an impact and a key asset to the program. As a student and a player, I have a strong-studious and serious work ethic. I have a 4.0 GPA, a PSAT score of 1250, I am in all honors/AP classes and I have maintained all "A" Academic Roll since 6th grade. My work ethic transcends onto the pitch. I have learned to incorporate myself into the offensive- attack while knowing when to stay/drop back as a defender. My quickness, agility, stamina, and fast transition from defending to attacking to defending is a key quality that I possess. I have the physical ability to make a run, return to defend, and transition within the game at a high pace which makes me a key player.
Additionally, I participate in other extracurricular activities such as Academic Team, where I am a captain of the Junior Varsity Team, Cyber Patriot, where I am the only sophomore on the Platinum Division team (highest level of competition) and former captain of the Silver Division team (2020-2021), and Math Team. Additionally, I was elected into the HHS Student Government as the Communications Director for the Sophomore Class. Outside of soccer, I also enjoy playing chess, biking, swimming, cooking, reading, and drawing.
Simply put, soccer is my passion, and to play in college is a goal I am determined to reach!
