Georgia Hamnett '20 Recruiting Profile

I am currently enrolled at Dr Charles Best Secondary, in Metro-Vancouver, Canada. I've played soccer since I was four years old and I am a huge soccer fan. My favourite team is Manchester City, not only the men’s team but I also love the women’s team. Vincent Kompany has been my favourite player since I was five years old. Through my love of Manchester City, I have been lucky enough to see them play in Vancouver, the USA and in England both at their home ground and an away ground.

As a student athlete, I have learned the importance of hard work and time management over many years, and I will always show that I give 100% in everything that I do. I am hoping to achieve an athletic scholarship at a school where I can improve my strengths, and also give back, to my school, team, and coaches.

My dream for my future in soccer is to play in the United States or Canada after my grade twelve year. I have been playing soccer for 12 years on my club and school team. My present school student and coaching staff help maintain and build my expertise and commitment. I am currently Captain of my soccer team and I am hardworking, punctual, motivating and inclusive. 

I have a calm, considered character and work well with everyone with whom I come into contact. My peers know that I am always available to discuss any problems they may have and if I cannot assist them, I know the way to direct them to get the help they need. Teaching staff know that I can be relied on to complete assignments on time and with thorough research.

I know I would be a great addition to any team because not only am I an experienced, reliable player but a supportive team mate. Leading by example, I encourage my team both on and off the field by showing consistency mentally and physically. I am committed both on and off the field and do everything I can to improve my skills.

During my time at both Elementary and High School I have always been involved in different sports; basketball, volleyball, track and field, especially javelin, being amongst them but soccer has always been my main objective.

All these sports have given me considerable insight into the necessity of being a good, committed team player.

Having been educated throughout my school career in the French Immersion school system I am fluent in both our national languages. I am an A student and for University have narrowed my career choices down to two areas of study; Civil or Environmental Engineering or to be involved in Sports Physiotherapy. My ambition is to be sure of obtaining a solid education but also to play soccer to a very competitive level.
