Personal Statement
My name is Lilyana Webb. I am a 2022 graduate from Danville, California. I play my club soccer with Mustang SC ECNL and Mike Kelley is my coach. I play high school soccer for Monte Vista High School. I have spent my life participating in sports and have played soccer since I was five. My parents literally put me in every sport there was. They said the only thing I didn't like was ballet. I have been on the top team for my age group at Mustang since I was 8 years old. I combine my soccer training with competitive swimming which enhances my stamina and physical abilities on the soccer field. I love to compete. I have always been that way in whatever sport I am in. While I can be quieter in school and other situations, competition is where I really feel the most comfortable. While I don't love swimming as much as soccer, I do love swimming butterfly as it's my best and fastest stroke and relays are the best because it's not just you but your team that you're swimming for.
I love playing soccer with my teammates. It is my one true passion in life. During the pandemic, the one thing I could count on was soccer and my teammates. I knew it was important to me before but it has been such a lifesaver in the last year. Soccer also brings my family together as we all love watching professional soccer. My favorite team is Barcelona and I have been watching Messi play on Barcelona as long as I can remember.
My coaches comment that I am a very coachable and very good technically with both feet. I love to create from the left or right wing as I am dominant with both feet. I am able to cross the ball in very precisely as well as take the ball up through the middle and send to space for my center forwards. I am also a very strong student and have made school a priority, along with soccer, throughout my life. I intend to pursue a degree in social work and hopefully will work for a non-for-profit where I can make a real impact on the lives of those in need.
