Personal Statement

I am a 5'6" midfielder from the beautiful San Diego, California and will graduate in the 2011 class. I've played club for 8 years and currently on San Diego Surf, 92-93 Premier Elite. I've been on Varsity for 3 years, with a projected 4th year coming up along with being team captain. On all my teams, I'm always leading, and directing whats going on, even if I don't have the title of captain. I'm a great team player. If someone gets hurt, I'll be the first one there seeing if they're okay. If someone scores, I'll be the first one to jump and high five them. I also come with a lot of ambition. I've always been on the smaller side, but trust me, that doesn't stop me. I utilize my size to draw fouls and outrun other, bigger girls. My dream school is University of California at Santa Barbara. My older sister went there and I automatically fell in love. But unfortunately, due to my size and grades I wont be going there my freshman year, but would maybe like to go there later in my college years. I'm also not looking for a huge Division I school for my first 2 years. I'm looking more for a DII, DIII, or even NAIA school to get settled in more easily and get used to college on a smaller level, rather than being overwhelmed, more then I will already be. I want to stay in California and try to avoid the cold for college, but I'm not picky and wouldn't mind going somewhere out of state. I'm just looking for the right fit; somewhere where I feel I would fit in with the women's soccer team nicely as well as the other students, to be able the balance school and soccer properly, and to feel comfortable and safe in that environment. With my older sister going to grad school, along with my handicapped little brother's pricey needs, I will need some finacial aid for college. This aspect is very important to my family. I just want to go somewhere where I can get a good education that will prepare me for grad school, as well as a college that will provide me with a great college experience while playing the game I love.
