Soccer has been the bread and butter for much of my life; a place where I can focus on the game and be my true self. I have worked hard both academically and physically to be as successful as I possibly can. Having the opportunity to even think about playing college soccer is an immense blessing. I overcome obstacles in athletics and in academics; subsequently, I have kept a high GPA in school and was also chosen to lead my competitive team this past year as captain. A few months before Covid hit, I tore my ACL. The healing process was long, but it taught me to relish each touch I get on the ball and every practice I go to. A year without soccer due to recovery and Covid was too long. Now, having trained my body to stay fit for soccer, I constantly remind myself that each game, practice, and touch is important for improving my capabilities as a player. My injury redefined what soccer meant for me: a sport that I love and want to continue playing through college.
I did get the opportunity to play in college! I played for a year at Sierra College, a local community college. It was a great experience where I learned so much and was able to improve my skills. I am a better soccer player and have gained even more strength. I am excited to transfer after this year to a four year college and see what soccer plans unfold!
