I began playing soccer when I was five-years-old. My coaches regularly played me as a goalkeeper due to my height and agility, though I spent equal time as an attacking field player, leading my teams in goal scoring. In 2019, I committed to playing as a goalkeeper full time for my club team. I thoroughly enjoy playing goalkeeper, and I embrace both the physical and mental aspects (though it does come with its own set of challenges). In Fall 2021, I was honored to be chosen as co-captain of my club team, a responsibility I take seriously.
COVID-19 disrupted soccer for everyone in 2020, especially in California, but I used it as an opportunity to keep improving. I began training one-on-one with professional goalkeeper Abbie Faingold. Abbie inspired me to work as hard as I can to play soccer in college.
At this point I remain undecided as to my future career path, but my interests include health care, because I am currently enrolled in my school's Health Academy program; engineering, because I like to design and create; and aviation, because planes are just cool. I also think being a goalkeeper and being a pilot have a lot in common. In both roles, decisions need to be made quickly and confidently.
