I have been a dedicated goalkeeper since age 9. I supplement my year-round club schedule with private goalie instruction, goalkeeper camps, and strength and conditioning. My club team, Albion SC, plays in the Premier level of Coast Soccer League. I currently play Varsity for Cathedral Catholic High School. This past season we won the Western League, were semi-finalists in CIF, and won the Southern California Regional State Championship for the third year in row. We ended our season ranked #4 in the state of California, and #9 in the regional and #20 nationally according to TopDrawer Soccer. See http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/high-school-soccer/team-profile/women/cathedral-catholic/tid-10971. My strengths as a goalkeeper are being fearless in the goal, one v. ones, ball distribution, shot blocking, and strong communication with my team. My year end stats are 1450 minutes played, 0.5 average goals against. See http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/erin-kelly/HbfwJVSnEeOzMAAmVebBJg/default.htm. According to Maxpreps, I rank 15 nationally for average goals against for the Class of 2016. See http://www.maxpreps.com/leaders/girls-soccer-winter-14-15/,goalsagainstaverage/stat-leaders.htm?classyear=11&position=gk.
I apply the same level of dedication in the classroom. As an ambitious, conscientious, honor-roll student, I am looking for a rigorous academic environment where I can continue to grow intellectually. I take a variety of advanced placement classes, including AP World, AP U.S. History, AP Language & Composition, and AP Psychology. I am an avid reader and writer, and I plan to major in English with an emphasis on creative writing, history or political science. After college, I hope to attend law school.
Attending Cathedral Catholic High School is providing me an opportunity to spend time serving others. Recently, I had the chance to help build a home for a needy family through Habitat For Humanity, as well as serve food to the homeless. These opportunities have been extraordinarily rewarding and I hope to participate in similar events someday with my college teammates.
I want to attend a prestigious university where I can excel academically, and have the chance to play soccer at a high level. I will work hard and be a committed teammate and classmate.
