I have been playing soccer for 10 years. I started playing for a local soccer team when I was 4 1/2 years old, and originally I was a forward. When I was 10 years old I decided to try out for a competitive club team, USA Stars Academy, where I quickly became the team captain for 2 years. After a short time, my coach moved me to center defense. At first I was frustrated with my new position, but I stuck with it and continued to improve. Eventually I saw that I really excelled and began to love this position. I next moved to San Juan ECNL, where I played for 2 more years. After that one of my old San Juan coaches, a former San Jose Earthquakes player, recruited me to his new club, at the Folsom Lake Earthquakes. Moving to my new team has really made me grow as a player. Shortly after joining this team I became team captain. This experience has allowed me to become more confident and has also helped me develop new leadership qualities, giving me the skills needed to play at the college level.
Outside of soccer I am currently a member of an organization called FFA, and I am in training to become a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs For The Blind. My grade point average is a 4.0, and my goal is to maintain this all four years of high school. I am looking for a program that will fit me both academically as well as athletically. Some of my most positive attributes, both on and off the field, include effective communication, leadership, work-ethic, coach-ability, and mental awareness for the game. I believe that all of these qualities will have an immediate impact in any high level college program.
