Personal Statement
In my soccer career I have had so many obstacles and challenges occur that have taught me how to improve myself better in the sport along with as a person. ODP regional soccer tryout, Presidents Cup state finals, moving to Fire FC. These events are what have formed me and who I am along with who I want to become for my future academic and athletic career.
The ODP regional tryout helped to broaden my view on the game and the skill level that other players had at my age. This showed me that I am capable of so much more and that I was not pushing myself to my full potential. In Presidents Cup state finals we went into two 15 minute overtimes and ended having a PK shootout. I was third to kick and I was exhausted due to playing almost the entire game including overtime. I missed that PK and we went on to lose the shootout putting us in second place to end the tournament. I blamed myself for that game and I still believe I could’ve changed the outcome of it. This showed me how to handle defeat, but also taught me a lot about myself personally. Finally the move to the Fire FC club. It was a huge switch and an even bigger commitment. Three days a week driving an hour and a half to practice and then back home. My social life would be almost nonexistent other than in school and I would miss the family I would leave behind at my old club. These were the sacrifices I had to make and the sacrifices I’m willing to make along with so many more to take my skills and abilities to the next level. I am a straight-A student and I plan to keep that consistent throughout the rest of my years in school. I can push myself and do what needs to be done to play college ball.
