Personal Statement
As someone who has played soccer as a hobby for almost ten years, I fell in love with the international sport. I have met so many people through it, lifelong friends. Similar to most young children, I started playing soccer because my parents wanted me to. As time went on, I grew to love it. The way it made me feel, the challenge of it, and especially the learning experience that every training and coach gave me. When high school came around, I was so excited for the new chapter in my career. As a freshman, I made the JV team and was a loyal starter. Only three games into the season, I injured myself, spraining my SI joint in the back. I did not recover before the season ended. With this factor and the fact I did not play on a club team, trying out for my sophomore season was terrifying. I hadn't played basically all of freshman season and did not play year-round club soccer anyways, so I was rusty, both physically and mentally. I was able to come back stronger than I had ever been in my whole career and earned a spot as a varsity starter. After the 2018-19 soccer season ended, I made the decision to begin training with a high club team to even lengthen and improve my soccer career more! If my injury taught me anything, it was how to persevere and come back even stronger than ever to make the most out of any situation, good or bad. I plan on entering my junior year season as a strong, set and stone defender, and my obstacles will only strengthen this goal.
