Personal Statement
My name is Anna Murphy. I am a 17-year-old Senior at Stafford High School. I am the youngest of 4 sisters and an aunt to 4 nieces and nephews. I come from a large family which I value very much. I have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old. I’ve tried other sports such as, baseball and basketball, but fell in love with soccer. I love being on the soccer field. I have been a varsity starter for all 4 years of high school, playing roughly 95% of every game.
I am a team player who has a will to win. I won’t deny, I love to score goals, that can be said by my four year high school record of 88 goals and 35 saves. However, what is most important to me is making sure I am a positive force on the field and I support my team. Winning the game is the goal, but it takes the entire team to do so. I want to be on a team that works together, strives to move the ball as one unit, and pushes one another to excellence. I am a strong force on the field and get a thrill from fighting through the defense, coming out with the ball and getting the ball in the net; whether that be by me or with a great assist to a teammate.
My leadership skills off the field have made me a strong leader. From creating my own charity and continuing to grow it the last 8 years to being Class President. I want to be a great role model that others respect and can learn from. This leadership has spilled over onto the field as team captain.
I still have so much to learn as a soccer player. I can’t wait to begin my collegiate soccer career and learn from my coaches, assistant coaches, and teammates.
