My name is Lila Brown, and I am in the class of 2022 at the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC. In addition to playing soccer, I enjoy reading, running and spending time with my younger sister. I had the opportunity to see open-heart surgery in 6th Grade, in person, and since then, I have wanted to be a surgeon. I will be volunteering at Children's Hospital in DC this summer (deferred from summer 2020 due to COVID-19). I sought out this opportunity because working with kids is something I am super passionate about.
Some of my strengths include my dedication, hard work and strength. I am currently working on not getting frustrated with myself when I make a mistake, and instead learning from these mistakes.

- ActivitiesHead of International Service Club, head of Mental Heath Awareness Club, member of Eco Club, member of Girls Who Start Club, member of Girls in Sports club, accepted into an 8 week volunteer program at Children’s Hospital this summer - unfortunately it has been pushed to next summer. Accepted into a Georgetown medical summer program - I will opt to reapply next year as Covid moved the program to online. Camp counselor in training - working with 8-11 year olds for 4 weeks over the summer. Accepted into my school’s Sports Leadership Academy, which I will be participating in for the next two years of my high school career. Member of Helping Hands peer mentoring program.
