The soccer field has become my second home. It has taught me strength and loyalty as well as communication with others. These attributes are not only of great importance to me, but they truly reflect my abilities and represent my character both on and off the field. From a very young age, my father taught me the qualities of strength and perseverance, always pushing me to be the best athlete, student, daughter, and person I could be. With that strength that has come to define me and my actions comes the second lesson soccer will never let me forget. Loyalty. Loyalty is obtained through trust which is important in creating the rhythm and bond between teammates. Most importantly it creates a deeper connection between a goalie and their team, a connection essential to any successful club.
Furthermore, these intertwined traits of strength and loyalty will not always get me as far as I need to go if I don't possess the necessary skills to COMMUNICATE them. Personally, communication is, and has proven to be one of my most necessary and useful skills. Whether its communication with my fellow teammates to make sure the net stays protected, or communicating my goals in this statement, the very same ability has propelled me through both sport and life.
Throughout my life I bounced around between sports and other extracurricular activities. I was unable to find anything I was truly passionate about until I was introduced to soccer. When it came to soccer, the question was never about whether I loved the game. The question was how far could I make it. Through my own journey both in and out of soccer, I realized that my possibilities are endless, and my goals are never unachievable. I started playing when I was about six years old, and I have been unable to put my gloves down since. Due to my love for the game, I continued to incorporate my passion for soccer into my academic career, such as maintaining a certain GPA to play for my school's team or bringing constant leadership, a tough mentality, and unwavering confidence into the classroom. I take pride in my accomplishments, whether it's winning a game or doing well on an assessment. I push myself past my limits, and use the strength given to me to persevere through all walks of life. Soccer is no different.
