Personal Statement
I’ve played soccer since I was six years old, and I can’t remember a time when a ball wasn’t at my feet. Soccer is my escape from stress, parents, school, etc. I love playing and watching soccer. I traveled to Lyon, France and to Vancouver, Canada to watch the United States Women’s Soccer Team win two World Cups. The first trip was especially memorable because I got to see my favorite player in her element on the field. Abby Wambach was my inspiration to make soccer my sport. I feel like we have the same style of play. Abby is a leader on the field and she uses her head a lot either scoring amazing goals or making wise decisions to distribute the ball.
My coaches tell me that I see the field very well and that I’m good in the air. I’ve played every position on the field; yes, even goalie. It’s not my strong suit, but I’m always there if needed. On my high school team I mostly play in the holding/attacking midfield. My teammates voted me the hardest working player during my freshman year and team captain as a sophomore. I play center back for the GCT team and often play up with the 03’s.
The best part about soccer is my soccer family – my coaches and friends. They have all helped me grow as a player. All my closest friends are soccer players. Winning is great, but winning games with your family is priceless.
