Hello, my name is Angie Garces. I am a 16-year-old girl from Atlanta, Georgia. I have been playing club soccer since recreational and over the years, the competition has become more and more fierce and tough. However, with hard work and absolute dedication, I have been able to overcome many challenges and have always kept going. For example, I have been able to overcome the hardest challenge yet which is losing a loved one to a tragic event. It has shaped me to the person I am today and I want to always be “1% better every day”. I live by that quote and it has always had a very positive impact for me. There have been many things that I am very very proud of both on and off the field. I have excellent grades and my involvement in student government roles and extracurriculars is immense. I have over 300+ volunteer hours and have had numerous internships at elite/prestigious businesses. I am a multi-athlete but soccer has always been my passion since a child. Being in a college that suits financial means, my major/study, and an excellent soccer program to advance my skills is a very particular goal and life achievement.
However, Being in a club has taught me the skill, hard work, and how to be a leader on and off the field. Over the years, I have been blessed to play alongside a great group of girls that have led to many wins, also upsets but being able to learn and take a defeat as a lesson is valuable. My number one asset that I can bring to the team is that I am very technical and the composure on the ball is monumental. The training with individual coaches has taught me to play under small spaces and how to play a way that makes any defense vulnerable. It is a skill that is very hard to master but practicing over and over again is great to control.
