Personal Statement
It's always difficult to express the accomplishments I've had without sounding like I'm bragging. I understand the need to share this information, so I'll do my best to share as objectively as possible.
With regards to my collegiate goals and aspirations, in playing soccer for many years I have had my fair share of injuries and spent time in Physical Therapy but I fell in love with the idea of getting to help athletes get back to where they want to be playing. After I put more thought and research into it, I discovered Athletic Training is what I want to do. Ideally I would like to travel with a sports team and form relationships with them and be their athletic trainer.
What I would say makes me a good candidate for a team is that I am a hard worker and I have a love for the sport which helps me get through the "joys" of conditioning. From playing attacking center mid and working with coaches I would say that some of my strongest attributes would be my placement, decision making, along with my vision of the field.
It's hard to say what makes me "different" from other recruits since I don't know their background or their character. I can say that with regards to athletics, I have only ever played soccer for the past 13 years (my family is a big soccer family with little knowledge of much else) and it's all I ever want to play. I have been captain for most of my club years and 3 out of my 4 years in high school soccer. Academically, I have always been Homeschooled so I think that distinguishes me a little from others. As far as character, I am a strong Christian and I take that out on the field with me. I don't cuss on the field and I make sure to be respectful to coaches and the refs since they are in a position of authority. That being said, after 13 years I am proud to say I have never received a yellow or red card, which most of my coaches made fun of me for.
